in SAP EWM/WM

The SERKEM solution in detail

Automatic small parts warehouse in SAP EWM

An automatic small parts warehouse is a fully automated warehouse that is specially designed for the storage of small parts. Normally there are one or more fully automated storage and retrieval machines, containers and in the most common cases, conveyor technology to transport the containers into the picking zone. An automatic small parts warehouse usually consists of a large number of alleys.

  • Shelving system with (several) alleys
  • Storage and retrieval machine (RBG)
  • Small parts container/trays
  • Picking stations
  • Conveyor technology

With SERKEM all functions of the automatic small parts warehouse (including control of the RBG, etc.) are implemented in SAP EWM/WM with ERP. The reporting point procedure allows the individual containers/trays are tracked seamlessly. This creates full transparency in the automatic small parts warehouse.

The automatic small parts warehouse is integrated into the SAP MFR with the help of SAP EWM. Efficient storage and retrieval strategies are designed to achieve maximum added value.

Types of the automatic small parts warehouse:

  • Easy storage
  • Double-depth storage
  • Simple load handler
  • Double-depth load handler
  • Multiple storage and retrieval machines (RBG) possible in one alley
Reporting points are placed along the entire automatic small parts warehouse, conveyor technology, order picking and storage areas. The UST uses these reporting points to communicate with the SAP EWM MFS system.

The SAP EWM/WM communicates with the MFR as well as with the UST/SPS. The complete integration of all components is delivered from a single source, ensuring a unified, consistent, and standardized implementation in both programming and customization. With the material flow control integrated into SAP EWM, all movement actions can be converted into SAP MFS actions.
