Migration of SAP WM to SAP EWM

Support for the SAP WM system from SAP will be available until 2025. However, SERKEM will continue to assist you in managing your Warehouse Management System beyond that.

By then, your logistics requirements may have changed in line with Industry 4.0. You may be required to automate your warehouse or warehouse processes and integrate technical systems, making the SAP WM system no longer sufficient for your needs.

SERKEM will assist you in migrating your SAP WM system to your new SAP EWM system, creating a first step towards Industry 4.0.

SAP EWM standard migration possibilities

Warehouse product migration – migration of storage-specific product data

This migration procedure allows to migrate warehouse product data of the WM system to your EWM system. For a successful migration the direction of the migration (download from WM or upload to EWM), the data source, data selection (ERP plant, ERP warehouse number), the conversion rules, the data target and the display control have to be specified. By the warehouse product migration, the warehouse data from WM can be migrated to EWM. The following possibilities are available at the data migration:

  • Migration of product master data
  • Migration of fixed storage bin assignments
  • Migration of palletization data
  • Migration of warehouse management quantity units

Similar to the warehouse product migration the migration direction, the data source, data selection, conversion rules, data target and the display control can be specified. The following possibilities are available at the storage bin migration:

  • Migration of bin master data
  • Migration of bin sorting data

Also by stock migration the direction, data source, data selection, conversion rules and data target can be specified. At the data selection can be chosen the following settings:

  • ERP plant
  • ERP storage location
  • ERP warehouse number
  • ERP storage type
  • ERP storage bin

With the inventory completeness migration data will be migrated, which indicate when the product was completely inventoried the last time. Similar to the stock migration the direction, data source, data selection, conversion rules and the data target of the migration can be specified.

With this function, the specifications of packaging material in EWM can be put together. The following SAP EWM data can be specified:

  • Packaging material
  • Handling unit type
  • Packaging specification group
  • Requirement type
  • Condition table

With this function the different warehouse management units will be mapped to the appropriate packaging material.
