Warehouse-Mobility

Segezha Packaging – The Project

To fulfil the constantly increasing requirements of a warehouse, the Segezha Packaging Germany decided to start optimizations in the sector of warehouse mobility. The digitalization of the company and the first step to industry 4.0 should be actualized that way.

Because the company has already used SAP as the leading system at the location in Achern, the desired optimizations should also be integrated in SAP. SERKEM could establish itself with a special project approach by means of a template and could successfully complete the project as SAP partner of Segezha Packaging. Thereby the implementation was actualized at the base of SAP standard.

Success Story Segezha Packaging Warehouse SAP Scan

Through the SAP integration of data transfer in the form of mobile transactions the processes along the supply chain can be transparently edited and seen – for every carrier like rolls, pallets or pallet cages.

The processes are mapped as a template and are also used, beside the German location, at the location in Denmark. Except the translation into Danish language, little customizing has been necessary whereby the rollout at the base of the German template could be implemented without high effort.

Already at the goods receipt the information to the order and forwarding to production can be retrieved through the mobile data transfer. At internal stock transfers, goods issue and its according loading processes the mobile transactions in SAP are also used now and simplify the processing. Because the user interface is browser-based there are no restrictions for the selection of mobile devices.

Through the scan of the corresponding order number and order position the relative goods are shown to the employee at the mobile device. Subsequently the amount of the received goods has to be entered where the SAP system makes automatically a comparison as a result and checks if the entered amount is permitted and the goods receipt as well as the order for the corresponding storage can be booked.

The new implemented mobile transaction is used for internal stock transfers like production supply, movements from one storage place to another as well as for returns from production. Therefore the employee has to scan the batch number where the SAP system shows the possible stock transfers as a result. After confirmation the relative stock transfer through the employee, the corresponding transportation order is created or the new storage place is booked.

For processing the picking the employee can scan the delivery or choose a delivery from a list. The SAP system offers the appropriate delivery positions with the actual existing stock. Through the scan of the material number the corresponding transportation order with the goods is triggered. The picking is completed when the employee confirms that after processing all positions through a pursuant entry at the mobile device.

The new implemented transactions are also used to invoke the stock information. Only the article has to be scanned whereby the necessary information about stock and storing is shown to the employee. This information is already deposited in the SAP system and can be retrieved at the mobile devices of the employees in real-time.

The SAP Template is now successfully integrated at Segezha Packaging production plants in Germany and Denmark.

The employees are leaded step by step through the system because of the easier and intuitive handling where no special SAP know-how is necessary. So the error quote can be reduced because manual entries are avoided. Finally, uniform processes in or across the company are guaranteed. At both locations the optimizations are now seamless integrated in SAP and can be executed with a high process safety and transparency.

„The front-end use of scanners and tablets are realized through the standard use of ITS mobile functionality. A synchronous communication between the front-end and SAP keeps the data up-to-date so that an up-to-date inventory of raw materials and finished goods is guaranteed.“
